Impressionistic Lines
Running up her colors
she paints a prairie sky.
Snapping, cracking in the wind
her domestic colors fly.
Billowing like a ship's sails;
if she could sail away.
Spread a little canvas
she paints a prairie sky.
Snapping, cracking in the wind
her domestic colors fly.
Billowing like a ship's sails;
if she could sail away.
Spread a little canvas
across a perfect day.
Every timber creaking
Every timber creaking
she pulls in on her line
unfurling every paintbox hue
beneath prairie sunshine.
